                                   The Great gatsby
  (Introduction):

   The great Gatsby is a book written by an American writer Scott fitzgerald. When the book was published it bacame famous among the public. Because it explosed the thoughts of extremely individualism and gastranomy of the contemporary American society. This thoughts like drugs in the society,it's poisonnous and irresistable. The thoughts urged the growth of every kinds of selfishness of human being .The book has great significance of realism .fitzgerald used his pen prescribed medicament for the putrid world and introduced one kind of sterling spirits .

      My paper is going to talking about two argument : The first one is "whether Gatsby is great or not ",another one is "where the theme of the book incarnated ."

    The center character of this book is Gatsby . But the writer use Nike to tell all the story in a bystander's view .Nike is a vagrant . He always in mind to seek spiritual relief . He travelled from his hometown in the middle weatern to Newyork ,and lived next to Mr. Gatsby's villa . He met Gatsby and bacame good friends eachother . So ,poor Nike went into the luxuriant life circle of the rich people and the story begain :

     Nowadays Gatsby is a rich and successful man . He has the great villa and hold grand banquet in his villa everynight . From the ball ,people can see the luxury and squander of Gatsby's life . People from all over the world come to his house . They drinking ,singing and dancing . They come for fun ,they come for enjoyment .But most of them don't know why the party is hold ,some of them even don't know who the host is .At the begining ,for Nike ,too , Gatsby is a mystery .

     But when Gatsby became familiar to Nike ,Nike got to know the deep love of Daisy in Gatsby's heart . Time backs to many years ago , When Gatsby was very young . He was a not rich ensign . He fall in love  with Daisy but the First World War broken out . Gatsby was transfered to Eroupe . When the war was over ,Gatsby returned home ,but to found that Daisy has got married with an rich man --Tom . Gatsby believed that is money let her left him .so he determined to be rich . Many years later ,Gatsby became successful . He built a villa towards Daisy's mansion . The villa stands for wealth and rank .Also it's a kind of silence call of Daisy . Gatsby lived a profligated life in his villa in order to catch Daisy's attention and to retrieve Daisy's love .

   Nike was deeply moved by Gatsby and decided to do Gatsby a favour . Nike learned that Daisy is his cousin ,then he call at Daisy's house and told her hoe Gatsby loved her so much . With Nike's help ,Gatsby went to meet Daisy . But when the time they met again , Tom--Daisy's husband has an lover  (Myrtle) in Newyork .

 Daisy bring Gatsby with her to Tom and said that who she ever loved is Gatsby but not Tom .

  Gatsby thought that he can live a happy life with Daisy from that time on . But in fact , Daisy said that just in order to irritate and revenge Tom .

    One night , Daisy drove Gatsby's car happened a car accident and killed Tom's lover --Myrtle .After the accident , Daisy and Tom travelled aborad  for shelter . Myrtle's husband learned that the car is Gatsby's , then ,He murdered Gatsby .

   The story come to an end with Gatsby's death . Nike went back to his hometown ,full of hate and sadness in his heart .

    (opinion)

    In my opinion ,Gatsby is great . but only great in his personal life . His constant love of Daisy is great . He do all the things Daisy asked he to do . As we all know , nobody  could do this out of reason . Gatsby's success in fortune is great ,His strong will of love and achieving life goal is also great . he became the big name of the society . he became the upper classes's deputy . Everyone was glad to come to his party ,everyone admired his property .

    When Gatsby still alive , Everyone come to his house ,everyone want to be his friend .The luxuriant life represented the corrupt society . It stands for extravagant waste and vanity . When Gatsby died , Nobody come to his funeral . Even his best friends and gests . All the showy things of his life gone with him . The sadness of his death incarnated the selfidhness and callosity of the society .

  From this book we can know that : No matter how famed and rich you are in the world, all the fame and wealth will gone by your death. You can't bring anything to the world when you born,and you can't bring anything back you when you died. We live for happy, for love. But not only for self-enjoyment.
